More often than not scooters are seen as being an item for kids. However, if you can get past this, adult scooters are a great way for getting about.
They are much quicker than walking, apparently 3 times quicker and require 3 times less effort.
You don’t have to worry about getting a puncture, mechanically they are much simpler than a bike, they pack up very small and are generally lighter and more portable than a bike.
On top of the fact that you can buy a full suspension scooter with a hand brake for under £100 they really do start looking like an interesting proposition. With regards to the handbrake, personally I found the brake slowed the scooter and I wouldn’t want to try stopping to quickly using only the handbrake, fortunately there’s always the option of just stepping off the scooter.
A few months ago I purchased a scooter and have thoroughly enjoyed riding or scooting it, although I do get a few second glances as I whizz by.
Strangely scooting does make me feel like a kid, but hey why should they have all the fun.
